The live workshop has concluded but the workshop is available as a replay.
Painting what we know is one of the best ways to create a painting that is genuine and has an emotional impact. We will work together to paint intimate spaces, working on our editing skills so that everything doesn't have to make its way into the final composition, but you get a clear sense of a private space that has high personal meaning.
In each session, Amy will choose a space in her home and paint a demo, showing you how she edits her own spaces so that she creates a painting vs just replicating a space. She will show you:
how to make a rendering using basic perspective techniques;
create an initial drawing to garner a sense of space;
and move into a demo using loose strokes and maximum color.
All sessions are recorded and participants have ongoing access.
Amy reviews her process of selecting her views within her own home and how she tries to find views that can highlight her painting strengths. In addition, she uses a very reduced palette (six colors, including white and black) and simple perspective to construct her painting demo.
In this two hour session, Amy reviews and uses the full double primary palette and setting in major shapes for a composition, even in a small painting. Note that there are two videos for the second session as there was a brief video mishap. Watch session IA first (23 minutes) and then session IIB (1.5 hours). The full painting demo is located in session IIB.
