Amy Brnger Painting Workshops + Mentorship Groups

Learn with artist and experienced instructor Amy Brnger about oil painting, color mixing, capturing light and form, and constructing art work that is solid in intention and is uniquely yours. Learn from your own home, at your own pace.  Amy offers live courses and a library of demos; you can work with a community or on your own.

Amy uses nature as a vehicle for making paintings of the world she experiences. She explores color relationships, uses stroke and energy to convey a sense of place and atmosphere, and constructs solid compositions to reign in the loose approach.

Take your time with learning, as you have ongoing access to all courses and videos.  Amy has a library of videos, online live workshops, and full replays of past workshops.  Live online workshops also have a private community forum component. You get feedback from Amy and support from participants.

What people are saying about Amy's Art Workshops

I have taken several classes from Amy. They are my favorite. She is gifted in her teaching style and clearly explains what she is doing and why as she demos a painting. She gives much thought to her reference photos and is generous in sharing them. And most of all, her comments on student paintings are very thorough, kind, and helpful. And, she is a lovely person.

I have attended a few of Amy’s Workshops now and enjoy them thoroughly. Amy has a gentle, clear and concise teaching manner. Her paintings speak for themselves- fabulous! Amy is very thorough and searching in her critique of the participants' art.

Cheryl B

Thrilled to find Amy’s class after a long spell of not painting. With her instruction I was able to build up my confidence and start painting again. Amy is a wealth of information not to mention talented.

Paige G

I have taken several workshops with Amy, and look forward to taking more. Her workshops are filled with laughter, learning and fun. Each one helped me push my painting to a higher level. She is kind and thoughtful, and has the ability to critique and pinpoint problems while still inspiring you.  I have recommended her as a teacher and as a painter (her work is amazing!) to many fellow painters.

Amy is an amazing instructor. Her positive and encouraging (and specific) feedback are invaluable, no matter what your level of expertise.  Her open sharing of the process of painting, the struggles and joys, are inspirational.  Her beautiful vibrant paintings speak for themselves.  I’ve grown a lot through Amy’s classes and strongly encourage artists to participate in her generous sharing of her knowledge and skill.

I’ve taken several  online courses with Amy and one recently in person.  Her talent as an artist is equal to her outstanding talent as a teacher. She conveys both complex and practical information clearly and concisely, in a very relatable way. Amy’s classes are also fun and enlivening.  She knows how to raise the bar with insightful comments but also eaves space for personal growth in one’s work.   She is extremely approachable, and shares her own painting experience with self-deprecating humor.  I always leave her classes inspired!

I am totally new to painting, and a friend suggested I take a class from Amy. I was drawn to her beautiful, loose style and it felt "accessible" since it did not rely heavily on realism. I'm on my fourth zoom class with Amy, and through her excellent instruction I am becoming an inspired and excited artist! Amy's classes are well organized, allow time for questions and cover distinctly different topics and concepts in each session.  She is a great instructor for artists at all levels, and I recommend her highly!

I first admired Amy’s work at The Left Bank Gallery in Wellfleet, MA. Her topics (landscapes, flowers, interiors) and style (fluid, expressive, dynamic, vibrant), spoke to me. Imagine my surprise when I found out that Amy teaches art.

I continue to learn new skills in Amy’s classes from color mixing to painting from photos to tips on transparency. But the biggest take-away may be to “be yourself.” Amy encourages originality. The idea is not to copy the perfect bouquet, landscape, or sunset; it’s to make them your own.

Amy’s classes are always fun. She is incredibly kind and her feedback is encouraging. Nowadays Amy teaches on Zoom and in person. I recommend both.

I have participated in many of Amy’s classes over the last several years, both in person and on zoom. She is welcoming and attentive. Amy always begins her sessions with a demo, offering just the right amount of instruction as she goes. No matter your level of experience, you won’t be disappointed spending an afternoon in one of Amy’s classes.
